EKSU Staff Ranked Among World’s Top 2% Energy Scientists 2025

EKSU STAFF, OMOJOLA AWOGBEMI RANKED AMONG WORLD’S TOP 2% OF SCIENTISTS IN THE SUBFIELD OF ENERGY FOR 2025

Developed jointly by Stanford University and Elsevier, this list identifies the top 2% of scientists worldwide by standardized citation metrics.

It evaluates research impact using career-long and single-year citation data across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields to ensure fair and comprehensive representation. The selection metric—the composite indicator (c-score)—accounts for the number of citations, co-authorship adjustments, and authorship positions, focusing on meaningful impact rather than just productivity.

Dr. Awogbemi’s inclusion in this global list did not only highlight his outstanding scholarly contributions as a certified Mechanical Engineer, but also enhanced the international visibility of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU) in the global academic community.

By being included in this list, scientists receive global recognition for advancing knowledge and influencing their scientific communities.

Dr. Awogbemi was at a time the Branch Chairman of the Ekiti State University Chapter of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

EKSU STAFF, OMOJOLA AWOGBEMI RANKED AMONG WORLD’S TOP 2% OF SCIENTISTS IN THE SUBFIELD OF ENERGY FOR 2025

A staff of Ekiti State University, Ado- Ekiti (EKSU), Dr. Omojola Awogbemi, a Mechanical Engineer and Senior Chief Technologist in the university has been ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists in the subfield of Energy for 2025.

This prestigious ranking was prepared by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and published in the Elsevier Data Repository: John P.A. (2025), “August 2025 data-update for ‘Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators,’” Elsevier Data Repository, V8, doi: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.8.

Dr. Awogbemi’s inclusion in this global list did not only highlight his outstanding scholarly contributions as a certified Mechanical Engineer, but also enhanced the international visibility of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU) in the global academic community.

Dr. Awogbemi was at a time the Branch Chairman of the Ekiti State University Chapter of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

The Vice- Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele, while receiving the news of the outstanding recognition, congratulated Dr. Awogbemi, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, all the university Technologists, as well as the University community at large on the feat. He reiterated that EKSU is known for excellence and honour which would be maintained to further promote the university globally.

The Vice Chancellor, therefore, encouraged other members of staff to continue to make the university proud by showcasing their scholarly contributions.
