…..agree to develop joint verification system to check abuse of NANs number plate
Management of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) and the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ekiti Axis, and the NANS Southwest (Zone D) Coordinator on Thursday resolved to work together towards addressing the abuse of NANs number plate.
Both parties had earlier disagreed after the EKIRS issued a communique stating her plan to begin a Road Tax Enforcement in which the use of NANs number plate was declared as illegal.
However, after a meeting held on Thursday, the NANs leadership agreed to work with EKIRS to develop a joint verification system and maintain an updated database of authorised number plate holders so as to assist in the arrest unauthorized users.
Management of EKIRS reaffirmed that the notice of the enforcement was issued purely out of security concerns, aimed at curbing impersonation and the fraudulent use of institutional identifiers such as NANS number plates.
The student leaders later passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of EKIRS, commending their professionalism, transparency, and commitment to peace.
