A viral video has showed the moment three thieves were caught in FUOYE amidst recent insecurity spike in town.
Three alleged thieves were reportedly apprehended by vigilant students and security personnel early this morning in Oye Ekiti.
The suspects, found in possession of stolen mobile phones, were arrested at Semilore Hostel and other accommodations along the school road between 2:00 PM and 5:10 AM today.
Reports indicate that one of the thieves, who claimed to have a shop situated at Basiri, Ado Ekiti, was caught with stolen phones, while the other suspects were also found with phones and other valuables.
It was also reported that one of the suspect allegedly identified himself as a student of the institution.
An eyewitness stated, “They frequently target female students, intimidating, threatening, and even assaulting us until we surrender our phones and belongings.”
The suspects have since been transferred to security authorities for thorough investigation and interrogation.
This disturbing situation , ongoing for the past week, has plunged the community into chaos and fear, leaving students unable to rest peacefully.
