Ekiti State University (EKSU) has introduced a new flexible payment plan for the fees of its freshmen for the 2024/2025 academic session, following extensive consultations with the Students’ Union, parents, and various stakeholders.
In a press release dated November 26, 2024, issued by the university’s Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, EKSU’s management has decided to ease the financial burden on new students by allowing them to pay 70% of their tuition fees in the first semester, with the remaining 30% deferred to the second semester.
This decision was reached after a meeting held on Monday, November 25, 2024, where the management took into account the current economic conditions in Nigeria. Despite this flexibility, EKSU encourages those who can afford to pay their fees in full to do so promptly.
The university has also expressed its commitment to continuing dialogues to further support student welfare, particularly by exploring benefits from the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Additionally, EKSU is actively seeking to introduce programs that could mitigate the financial implications of the new fee structure, especially for indigent students.
Bode Olofinmuagun, the Deputy Registrar and Head of the Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, emphasized EKSU’s dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment through collaborative efforts with all stakeholders.
This new payment structure is expected to provide significant relief to many families, while ensuring that the quality of education at EKSU remains uncompromised. The university continues to prioritize student welfare and academic excellence in all its operations.
