Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service to Commence Road Tax Enforcement Exercise from Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Collaboration with Relevant Agencies
OFFICIAL PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL ROAD USERS IN EKITI STATE
In consideration of the prevailing security situation and the imperative to ensure safety and security on our roads, the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service, in collaboration with:
- Nigerian Police Force
- Federal Road Safety Corps
- Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps
- Vehicle Inspection Officers
will embark on routine road taxes enforcement operations with effect from Tuesday, 8th July, 2025.
All road users are expected to ensure that:
- They do not drive a car or motorcycle without a number plate.
- They register and obtain number plates for all motor vehicles and motorcycles, including tricycles.
- They do not use illegal and unauthorized number plates (such as National Youth Council, NANS, etc.).
- Commercial vehicles do not use Local Government number plates.
- They possess valid vehicle and motorcycle documents.
- They possess a valid driver’s license.
- They obtain the computerized road worthiness certificate.
- All motor dealers renew their dealers’ license.
- Unregistered vehicles are not allowed on our roads.
- Government number plates are not allowed on private vehicles.
- Unauthorized covering of number plates is not permitted.
Any motor vehicle or motorcycle operating without number plates or with unauthorized plates will be impounded.
To secure release, owners must obtain a 3-year Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) and ensure their vehicle particulars are up-to-date through renewal or registration.
Members of the public are advised to:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations
- Carry necessary documents while driving
- Cooperate with enforcement officers
