Key contenders like Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Senator Babajide Omoworare nominated and seconded his candidacy.
At the primary held in Osogbo, attended by 1,660 delegates from all 30 local government areas and wards, his nomination was affirmed unanimously via voice vote.
The primary committee chairman, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, declared him the winner, emphasising party unity.
