Ishaku Elisha Cliff Abbo was born and grew up in Gova in Muchalla village of Mubi North L.G.A. Adamawa State. He later moved to Lagos state, the began venturing into the world of politics.

Elisha Abbo is well traveled, and lived in Lagos, Sydney Australia, London UK, Canada and now Abuja Nigeria.

Before his election into the Nigerian Senate, he was the Managing Director and CEO of Saice & Wright Group, Abuja, a multinational political consultancy firm.

He is currently the youngest senator in the Nigerian senate and he made that feat under the opposition party (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP).

Elisha Abbo was a former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Murtala Nyako and former Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Sports & Youths Council.

He contested the seat of Senator representing Adamawa North district on the platform of the PDP in the just concluded election that he won.

On the 25th of February 2019, the young man was declared as the winner of the senatorial election in his district.

The incumbent Senator, Binta Masi Garba of the APC scored the closest votes with 16,219.

On the 2nd of July 2019, many Nigerians were left shocked after a video showing a Nigerian senator assaulting a young lady in a shop in Abuja went viral.

The video shocked a lot of people, as calls were made by many that the Nigerian Police Force should pick him up. Prominent human right organization, Amnesty Internation, wrote in series of Tweets:

“Amnesty International is calling on Nigeria Police @PoliceNG to investigate Senator Elisha Abbo (Adamawa North) for alleged assault on staff of an adult shop he patronizes in Abuja. Video of the senator assaulting women is widely available for police to act.”

“What is known so far on Senator Elisha Abbo’s assault on women: -He went shopping in an adult shop with 3-women. -He summoned police that joined him while assaulting a lady. -He slapped her 3-times -The woman he assaulted was treated in hospital for injuries.”

“Reports say, Senator Elisha Abbo threatened to unleash more violence on the women if the incidence got to the public. It is resposibility of police @PoliceNG to now protect victims from further of his violence. This must be investigated. The senator must face justice.”

Prominent Nigerian lawyer – a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, Festus Kenyamo wrote on Twitter:

“The case of Senator Elisha Abbo is very straightforward: the Police MUST IMMEDIATELY take three steps: 1. Arrest him (no formal complaint is needed with the evidence on tape) 2. Obtain his statement (if he’s willing to make one) and that of the victim 3. Arraign him in court.”
