The Ekiti State Waste Management Agency has set up a special task force to apprehend and prosecute residents who are in the habit of disposing of waste in unauthorised
places.
The Director General Waste Management Agency, Sukanmi Onipede, who confirmed this to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, explained that despite the provision of waste bins, some residents have continued to drop waste on road medians and other places, especially in the state capital.
According to him, the waste management Agency under his watch is committed to a clean Ekiti. Hence, he would not fold his arms and allow some individuals to jeopardize such foresight.
He highlighted some of the major areas of concern to include, Adebayo to Bawa area, ljigbo to Ajebandele, Okeyimi, Basiri and some other streets.
Onipede added that the task force will also place close eyes on the activities of scavengers to get rid of the criminal elements among them.
The DG, however, appealed to the people of the state to be more vigilant and security-conscious.
