DECISIONS TAKEN AT THE EKITI STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING OF TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY, 2025 CHAIRED BY GOVERNOR BIODUN ABAYOMI OYEBANJI

In an effort to enhance the state’s infrastructure and economy, the Ekiti State Executive Council, led by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on Tuesday, 11th February 2025, approved several significant initiatives.

A comprehensive Strategic Plan for the Reorganisation of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management in Ekiti State was one of the major decisions made. January 2025 is the start date for implementing this plan to reform the state’s safety architecture. The plan, which was backed by LOGIC CITY FLEET SERVICES LIMITED, will address crucial deficiencies in public safety and emergency services.

Ado-Ekiti’s Ayo Fasanmi Model College Building was given a budget of N169,314,054.05 for the renovation of the building in the education sector. The building had structural defects and was temporarily closed. In six weeks, the renovation project is expected to be finished.

The Ekiti State government, headed by Governor Oyebanji, aimed to enhance agricultural technology by allocating N150 million for the implementation of farm mechanization. Its aim is to improve efficiency, provide assistance to small-scale farmers, and support the development of rural economies in the state. It is estimated to take eight weeks to finish the project.

In addition, the council awarded a contract worth N392.4 million for trenches around several farm clusters in the state. The trenches are designed to reduce soil erosion, improve irrigation, and prevent flooding. The contract was awarded to TEE-WHY FARMS LIMITED and is expected in eight weeks..

Ultimately, the council granted N1.1 billion for the development of hope dormitories that would provide lodging for farmers in significant agricultural areas. The Administration has been committing to supporting agricultural transformation and providing necessary infrastructure for farmers across the state, and this project represents just one example.

FULL DETAILS: THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVED THE FOLLOWING ON 11TH FEBRUARY 2025

N1,102,315,383.75 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF RENEWED HOPE DORMITORIES (HALL OF RESIDENCE TO FARMERS WITH A MAXIMUM OF 50 PERSONS PER HALL) IN SOME FARM CLUSTERS IN THE STATE.The approval is part of the unwavering resolve and commitment of the present administration to transform the agriculture sector. This administration has taken a giant stride in ensuring that youths interested in agriculture are provided with a conducive and enabling environment to undertake their farming activities.Locations for the dormitories include approved sites to be awarded to three different contractors: Oke-Ako, Ikere, Emure/Eporo, Iyemero, Aramoko. The contractors, Joshua Beckley Limited, Onalar Farms Agro Allied Limited, and Samuel Animawun Limited, have four weeks completion periods.

STRATEGIC PLAN FOR AND REORGANISATION OF SAFETY, SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IN EKITI STATEOne of the key strategic initiatives of Governor Oyebanji’s administration is the proactive plan to reform the safety, security, and emergency management architecture of the State to boost growth and development as well as the general well-being of the people. Inspired by the Governor’s visit to the Lagos State Emergency Management Services (LASEMA) premises, LOGIC CITY FLEET SERVICES LIMITED, the same consultant that advised on LASEMA’s reorganization, was commissioned to conduct a scoping study of Ekiti State’s Security, Safety, and Emergency Services. The study involved a comprehensive review of existing policies, procedures, infrastructure, and capabilities across various agencies responsible for maintaining public safety and responding to emergencies within the state, identifying key strengths, weaknesses, gaps in service, and areas for potential improvement. Upon completion and presentation of the study, Governor Oyebanji set up a committee to review the report and submit a White Paper for Government consideration. The report highlighted the strengths and challenges of the current system and proposed actionable initiatives to enhance operations and empower public servants in the delivery of quality services. However, considering the substantial financial requirements for implementation, the committee phased the implementation into three stages, commencing in January 2025.The approval of the draft White Paper as a working document for the reorganization of the Security, Safety, and Emergency Services in the State with necessary MDAs commencing the process for the execution of the initiatives and LOGIC CITY FLEET SERVICES as the consultant to drive the implementation of the proposed strategic plan.

N169,314,054.05 FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE AYO FASANMI MODEL COLLEGE BUILDING, IWOROKO ROAD, ADO-EKITIN169,314,054.05 was approved for the renovation of the Ayo Fasanmi Model College Building, Iworoko Road, Ado-Ekiti by the Bureau of Special Projects through Direct Labour. The Ayo Fasanmi Model College building, Iworoko Road, Ado Ekiti was found to have structural defects, prompting its temporary closure to ensure the safety of students and staff of the school. Given the urgency and peculiarity of the building, the Bureau of Special Projects was requested to visit the site for an on-the-spot evaluation and to come up with the immediate solution to prevent the entire building from collapse. A comprehensive assessment by the Bureau of Special Projects revealed several key issues, including a high water table, causing waterlogged areas during the rainy season and structural cracks in the wall, lintels, slabs, and beams. Additional observations included deflections in slabs due to foundation settlement, vibrations in certain slabs, insufficient beam depth, and load stress on beams as well as recommended remedial actions to salvage the building.The job is expected to be completed within six weeks.

N150MILLION FOR FARM MECHANIZATION ACROSS EKITI STATEThe approval of the Farm Mechanization project is considered “A Key to Food Security: Strategy Formulation for Ekiti State Agricultural Revolution through targeted Subsidy to Small Holders.” The goal of the farm mechanization is to increase productivity, expand cultivated land, promote industrialization and strengthen the market for rural economic growth. This will ultimately improve the livelihoods of farmers and support legacy farmers who wish to expand their farm size, despite facing financial constraints due to rising land preparation costs as well as stimulate investors’ interest in farm power and machinery enterprises across the State.The project is expected to be completed within eight weeks.

N392,472,560.00 CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRENCHES AROUND DIFFERENT FARM CLUSTERS WITHIN EKITI STATEConstruction of trenches around farm clusters in the State is to prevent soil erosion and undue access by cattle and other animals. A key component of Governor Oyebanji’s initiative to revolutionize agriculture towards ensuring food security, empowering farmers, and boosting the State economy in Ekiti State is the construction of trenches around different farm clusters. The trenches are also expected to prevent flooding and facilitate irrigation, increase crop yields as well as prevent undue access to farmland by cattle and other animals.Locations where the trenches are to be constructed include: Oke-Ako1, Oke-Ako2, Ado, Emure, Aramoko, Ise, Ikere, Gede.TEE-WHY FARMS LIMITED was awarded the contract for the job, having met all procurement requirements and given an eight weeks completion period.
