Nigerian university awards $20k to best student

Farid Hammayo who had 3.96 CGPA is the latest millionaire in Nigeria. He was awarded Twenty Thousand Dollars for graduating as the overall best student of Baze University.

The 21-year-old earned his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Economics with style.

Premium Times reported that the Abuja varsity’s Chancellor, Dr Yusuf Baba Ahmed, announced the whopping prize at the school’s 11th convocation ceremony, which was held during the weekend.

The chancellor also announced a choice for Susan Obasi (MSc Management) and Adeola Ayoola (M.Eng Civil Engineering), the two best-graduating students at the postgraduate school, after they finished with a 5.0 CGPA.

They were told to choose between a full tuition-free PhD opportunity at Baze University or a job opportunity at the varsity.

Baze University graduated 749 students, with 30 graduating with first class.
