Crayon Music Career and signing for Mavin

He is currently signed under Blowtime Entertainment an imprint of Mavins Record.

Crayon whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu is a talented Nigerian singer and songwriter born on November 21, 2000.

Crayon originally hails from Ebonyi state but grew up in Iba area in Lagos State.

Though Crayon can be said as new in the music industry, he must have done enough to impress Mavin records before he was signed on the label.

According to Chief Operations Officer of Mavin Records, Tega Oghenejobo, Crayon is a bundle of talent and they are looking forward to helping him achieve his goals.

A statement by Mavin Records says that the singer is a friend to and collaborator of music producer, Ozedikus – who produced Rema EPby Rema and hits like ‘Corny’ and ‘Dumebi.’

One thing led to another, Baby Fresh heard one of those early songs felt his talent, and felt he could be “one of the new faces of afrobeat.”

Well, it seems Don Jazzy also shares the same sentiments as Baby Fresh, as he had this to say after the signing of Crayon. He said;

We are pleased to announce our new imprint deal with Baby Fresh’s Blowtime Entertainment as we unveil our new artist, Crayon.

“Baby Fresh has always been part of the Mavin family and we look forward to what is shaping up to be a remarkable stage of his amazing career. Crayon is an exceptional songwriter and recording artist who comes with a lot of diversity in his music and I am sure that we will attain great things together.”

“My dad used to sell CDs back in the day, in Victoria Island [in Lagos],” reveals Crayon. “I had access to a lot of music: afrobeat, hip-hop, Westlife, 2Face Idibia, Wizkid, and many others.” Crayon also learned stagecraft from his father’s side hustle as an MC, who was always “so bold and confident,” even in the midst of so much activity. His mother, then a fruit seller, loved Igbo gospel songs; few mornings passed when loud, worship songs weren’t blasting from their home. All of these, Crayon says, “are a mix of different sounds and different cultures that shaped my artistry.”
